Per a report from Italian journalist Nicolo Shira, Liverpool is preparing a formal bid for Bayern Munich’s midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The sum of that proposal, however, is going to leave Bayern fans — and the club’s board — likely wanting more.
Much more.
For the cool price of €15 million, Liverpool would like to acquire one of the slickest and most adept midfielders in the world.
Yup ... €15 million.
Next week talks between #Liverpool and #BayernMunich for #ThiagoAlcantara will officially start. #Reds don’t want to pay €30-35M asking price by Bayern, because Thiago’s contract expires next June. They are preparing a bid of €15M. #LFC agreed personal terms for 4-year contract https://t.co/zElj1ATs8K

While the sum is not quite like shopping off the clearance rack at Dick’s Sporting Goods, €15 million for a player of Thiago’s skill-set and ability is well ... underwhelming. Assuredly, this is just the first step in the two clubs’ lobbing financial bids at each other, but Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp will likely find that offer swatted back at him, while Karl-Heinz Rummenigge provides a Dikembe Mutombo-esque finger wag to show his disdain for such a low-ball offer.
As always, stay tuned. There will surely be MUCH MORE to this story once this weekend is over.
