Per a new report from AZ, Bayern Munich executive board member Oliver Kahn is confident that the club will reach an agreement with David Alaba and get him to sign a contract extension in the near future. This comes just one day after Bild reported on a lunch meeting that took place between Alaba’s agent, Pini Zahavi and members from Bayern’s front office where “positive” talks were held in Lisbon.
It wasn’t specified whether Kahn was present at the lunch meeting with Zahavi, but it is assumed that he was present at the meeting. “We’re coming closer together. The last discussion was in a very pleasant atmosphere,” he said. He continued, “The club is doing everything to keep Alaba, and David also knows — especially in these times — what he has at FC Bayern. I am very optimistic that we can keep him.”
After Bayern’s 3-0 win over Lyon to clinch their spot in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, Alaba did not want to comment on his contract situation when he was asked about it. He is fully focused on winning the Champions League with Bayern right now, as he should be. It would be realistic to expect a decision from Alaba and his representatives once the Champions League is over, whether Bayern win it or not, but it’s refreshing that Kahn feels confident.
