Las Palmas winger Pedri is set to move to Barcelona when the season ends, but he’s already talking about a move abroad. Having been linked to both Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach in recent weeks, the player confirmed that there were offers from Germany that have piqued his interest.

The 17-year-old Spaniard played as a left winger this season, scoring 3 goals and assisting 7 more in the Spanish second division. His move to Barcelona has already been announced, but Pedri says his number one objective is to get minutes wherever he can — which means considering a move to the Bundesliga.

“The priority is to play”, he told Sport in an exclusive interview. “There have been some very interesting proposals from Bundesliga sides, who are insisting they want to take me (on loan). Barça know about this. Those clubs believe I could be an important part of their team and gain experience.”

Of course, he doesn’t explain why a club like Bayern Munich would agree to a loan in the first place, which suggests that the rumors may be a bit off the mark. While Bayern do want as many wingers as possible, we really don’t need to be doing Barca any more favors. They arguably owe us for the disaster that was Philippe Coutinho. Unless the loan comes with a potential buy-option, like what we got for Kingsley Coman, it’s doubtful that the bosses will be interested.

This just goes to show that any outlet will slap Bayern’s name onto a rumor in hopes of generating clicks. This is why you come to sites like BFW, who dissect the real news. We would never post filthy clickbait to mislead our readers. That’s just not done.

Spox reporter Kerry Hau explains why Bayern Munich might be willing to take a loan deal for Pedri:

More opportunities in the midfield, no financial risk in the times of the coronavirus: in the person of Hasan Salihamidzic, FC Bayern has inquired at FC Barcelona about loaning top talent Pedri. Barca would be willing to agree only to a loan without a purchase option.

Barça’s plan with Pedri: He’ll participate in the preseason, then a decision will be made. The prospect of regular game time is the player’s top priority - that might be difficult in Munich. Gladbach is also interested.
