Even though his transfer to Bayern Munich was already official at the beginning of the month, Leroy Sané was unveiled as a Bayern player today and gave his first official press conference alongside Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Hasan Salihamidzic, and Oliver Kahn. He answered a plethora of questions from the press and expressed his delight to be starting this next chapter in his career.
During the press conference, Rummenigge praised Sané’s abilities (Bild): “We were all agreed that he fit perfectly to FC Bayern with his athletic abilities, his pace, his dribbling, his nose for goal.” He then remarked that Sané was one of the quickest players on the pitch while he was watching some of the small group training sessions at Säbener Strasse.
“I observed at training today — they were doing endurance sprints — that Leroy was one of the fastest on the team. I’d say it was always a tough battle between him and Robert Lewandowski to see who reached the goal first.”
There was just one problem. Sané was not involved in the small group training sessions today! It was Joshua Zirkzee whom Rummenigge observed sprinting with Lewandowski. He is probably pleased to hear that he measured up to the Bundesliga’s player of the season while doing a great impression of the club’s new top signing.
