Malik Tillman, one of Bayern Munich’s highly rated youngsters, has renewed his contract at the club until 2023. The center forward recently impressed in eight 3.Liga appearances for Bayern Munich ii — scoring five goals, as they surprisingly won the division.
Before being a regular in the 3.Liga, Tillman was a crucial player in Bayern’s U19 team, producing more goals and assists than games played. And, having broken into the Bayern II team, Tillman again quickly established himself as an important player. Now, even more so, with Kwasi Wriedt, the team’s talisman, leaving this summer and therefore his production needing replaced. As a result, Tillman will hopefully play a larger role for the reserves, as they aim to retain their title.
Tillman started his Bayern career in 15/16, like his brother, Timothy, after developming alongside him at SpVgg Greuther Fürth. And while his brother has since left Bavaria, Tillman looks set to be at Bayern for a while yet. He certainly looks to be a high level talent, hopefully his development can continue onwards and upwards to the first team. Who knows, perhaps he’ll be the Thomas Muller or Robert Lewandowski replacement that Hansi Flick needs in the future.
