Kit Leak: Bayern Munich away kit for 2020/21 season

New, comments

A blast from the (2013/14 season) past, but in a good or not-so-good way? You decide.

There were small leaks back in May of what Bayern Munich’s home and away kits would look like for the 2020/21 season. Of course, we’ve already seen Bayern’s official home kits for next season as they were worn by the players for the last couple of matches of the season in both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

Now, though, we have a more official (still unofficial) look at the away kit for next season thanks to Footy Headlines. The kits still have not been officially released by Bayern, but you can already purchase wristbands with the exact same color scheme as the proposed kit on the club’s official web site.

For starters, it isn’t mint green or 1860 München blue. That automatically gets positive marks. Much like the new home kit, there’s an overriding theme of simplicity to this kit. There’s not much to it: simple base, accented neck collar and sleeve cuffs, and the reddish/orange hue for Adidas, T-Mobile and the monochromatic team badge. It is also understood, as Footy Headlines reports, that the jersey will be accompanied by white shorts and white socks, most likely with accents matching the font color on the jersey. Supposedly, these will be officially released and available for purchase later this month on the club’s website.

For what it’s worth, a lot of people aren’t too happy when Adidas pushes the envelope with kit designs, so there will be some solace taken in the new away kit’s simplicity. While this season’s kits all pay homage to our beloved Allianz Arena, next season’s home and away kits keep it plain and simple, red and white, our colors.

As I had mentioned back in May, the color scheme is very similar to a Bayern kit we’ve seen in the past (reference lead picture):

It’s hard to get AS excited for away kits because they’re never red, but compartmentalizing that very realization helps us be able to appreciate them for what they are. With the beige base and orange-ish text, I’m kind of getting 2013/2014 away kit vibes from when Liga total! was the front sponsor, strictly based off of the color scheme itself, not as much the design.

You know the drill:
