Bayern Munich has signed Tanguy Nianzou Kouassi on a contract until 2024. The center-back who can also play in the defensive midfield comes to Die Roten on a free transfer from French powerhouse Paris St. Germain.

Speaking to fcbayerntv, Kouassi seems excited: ‘‘I am very happy to be able to play for FC Bayern. It is a big and traditional club. I very much hope that I will succeed here and have many games. I’ll work hard for that.”

The 18-year-old wanted to leave PSG at the beginning of this summer due to him seeking a more stable environment. Thomas Tuchel, an admirer of the talent, is said to be devastated to lose his talent.

Kouassi made 13 professional appearances for PSG last season, despite only turning eighteen on 7 June. Six in the league, five in the two domestic cups and 2 in the Champions League, one of the appearances coming against Borussia Dortmund.

Kouassi will be the newest Frenchmen in the Bayern squad. Lucas Hernandez, Corentin Tolisso, Benjamin Pavard, Kingsley Coman, and Mickaël Cuisance will get another fellow francophone to the growing French colony in Munich.

This is a transfer that could only be viewed as a steal for Bayern as Kouassi seems to be one of football’s brightest talents.

Welcome, Tanguy!
