Bayern Munich II maintained their fourth place standing in the 3.Liga table on Wednesday with a 3-2 victory over Preußen Münster. However, with results shaking out their way, the Bavarians are only one point behind leaders Duisburg!

The match got off to an absolute raucous start with Heinz Mörschel and Otschi Wriedt exchanging goals in the first three minutes of the match (!!!) to make the score level at 1-1. In the 18th minute, Oliver Batista-Meier scored on a free kick from the top of the box to put Bayern II up 2-1.

Unfortunately for Bayern II, they were unable to keep the lead going into halftime. Lucas Cueto struck in the 37th minute, pulling Münster level once again. The two teams entered the break tied at two each.

As it began to look like the match would end in a draw, the 3.Liga’s top scorer struck again. Wriedt finished a beautiful team sequence with Angelo Stiller’s pass, dummied by Woo-yeong Jeong, received and sent into the box by Maximilian Welzmüller. The goal was Wriedt’s second of the day and 19th of the season.

Bayern XI: Früchtl - Yilmaz (46. Stanisic), Feldhahn, Richards, Köhn - Stiller, Kern (58. Welzmüller), Batista-Meier (80. Musiala), Singh (90. Will) - Arp (58. Jeong), Wriedt

Among the bright spots on the day was that 17 year old Jamal Musiala got his first minutes in the 3.Liga. The young midfielder started the season with the U17s under Miroslav Klose before being brought up to Martin Demichelis’s U19 side. After six appearances there and their season finished, Musiala was brought up to train with the Reserves for the remainder of the season.

The young Bavarians are on quite the roll with their eighth win in nine matches since returning from the winter break. We’re at a point now where 3.Liga Champions isn’t out of the question. Remarkable.
