Bayern Munich rivaled by Everton and RB Leipzig for Roma star Cengiz Under

An alternative or backup to Leroy Sané? Bayern have inquired about Roma winger Cengiz Under.

According to Italian newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Bayern Munich are among three clubs who have inquired about AS Roma winger Cengiz Under. English Premier League club Everton and Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig are also said to be in the mix. The player might be offloaded this summer to help Roma’s finances, but the Italians will not accept anything less than €30m for his services.

This seems like a plausible rumor, given that Bayern have a need for new wingers at the moment, and Under has been linked with the club before. However, the young Turkish winger has only scored 3 goals this season, with zero assists — not the kind of numbers you want to see for a player valued at €30m.

Given that we know Bayern are looking to sign Leroy Sané from Manchester City this summer, one has to wonder what role Under might play if he were to move to Germany. With his production numbers, it’s unlikely that the bosses see him as a fallback option if the Sané deal falls through — the fans would never stomach such a disappointment. Instead, maybe the 22-year-old is envisioned as a replacement for Ivan Perisic, whose loan deal expires at the end of this season. Bayern and Inter have yet to agree to a sale price for the Croatian.

What do you think of Bayern buying Under? Do you think €30m is a good deal for him? Let us know in the comments.
