Bayern Munich want Sergiño Dest... on loan

A new report says Bayern are still after Ajax’s right back, but they currently aren’t meeting the player’s or the club’s demands.

Bayern Munich and Ajax appear to be in the negotiating stage of sorting out the potential transfer of Sergiño Dest, according to a new report from Bild. They Bavarians have other options on the table at right back; however, it does appear that Dest is their target.

The back-and-forth right now appears to be settled on the type of deal that gets completed. Currently, Bayern are pushing for a loan with the option to buy. Ajax and Dest, on the other hand, are pushing for a full transfer. In what is likely to be an odd transfer market for the next 12-18 months (maybe longer), Ajax pushing for a full transfer makes sense. Still, one wonders if Bayern’s stable finances make the loan with purchase option a feasible plan.

While there are other suitors for the young defender, the Bayern’s strong financial footing may just have them as favorites. Barcelona’s current financial woes thanks to COVID-19 have them scrambling to find out ways to offload players just to afford Lautaro Martinez.

Despite the play of Benjamin Pavard at right back this season, Bayern seem to be interested in finding a player younger than the 24 year old Pavard who can provide a similar play-style to Alphonso Davies at left back. Is that player Dest?
