The saga never ends! Just a week or so after reports claimed that Leroy Sané had a deal agreed with Bayern Munich, Bild reporter Christian Falk now says that the club could wait until next year to get him if Manchester City refuse to play ball.
Here’s the conversation on Twitter. Someone asks Falk the usual true/false question, but this time our favorite journo (not true) actually says “true”:
True

The implications of this tweet are horrifying. If we assume that this isn’t just some negotiating tactic by Bayern to get the player for cheap, it would be terrible if Bayern actually made good on such a threat for a multitude of reasons.
First and foremost, it would that the Sané saga could well go on for another year, which would push the sanity of Bayern fans (and writers!) to the breaking point. Second, it would mean that Bayern could miss out on their top target for the second summer in a row. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge will then panic-buy Paulo Dybala or something, and you’ll have a bunch of players trotted out in front of the media claiming that the team have finally bought a real “superstar” who will definitely not be benched by Thomas Müller.
While Bayern remains fixated on a player who smashed his ACL to bits and hasn’t played a game in the top flight in almost a year, talents like Kai Havertz and Timo Werner prepare to move across Europe. This is just not a good situation to be in. Hopefully the club gets the transfer done sooner rather than later.
