Corentin Tolisso’s agent denies talks with Manchester United

Bayern Munich’s Tolisso has long been linked to a move away from Munich, but his current injury has put everything on hold yet again.

Corentin Tolisso’s agent Eric Castagnino told Sky Sport that the latest rumors connecting his client to Manchester United are not true. RMC Sport reported yesterday that Bayern Munich was willing to let Tolisso depart and that Manchester United had contacted Tolisso’s representation.

Castagnino now has said, “I am not conducting any talks with Manchester United! Corentin is injured at the moment and currently his return to the pitch has absolute priority.”

That response obviously leaves the door to a potential exit open, and it indeed appears that both Bayern and Tolisso are agreed. Tolisso’s contract expires in 2022. Hence the 2020/21 season would be the latest moment for Bayern to sell, if not sooner, to avoid allowing Tolisso to leave on a free transfer.

Although it has been claimed that Bayern’s asking price is €35 million, his inability to shine on the pitch due to injury may make that seem too high. Tolisso has amassed 1359 minutes this season across competitions in a mixture of starts and brief cameos. The highlight of his season was Bayern Munich’s 7-2 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur, in which Tolisso played the full 90 minutes and provided 2 assists. That seems like an eternity ago now.
