In another big win on Tuesday, Bayern Munich II beat FSV Zwickau 2-0. It’s their ninth win in eleven games since the new year, and the young Bavarians continue to overwhelm the competition in their impressive return to the third division.
For Bayern II, the star on the day was 17 year old Jamal Musiala. The midfielder was called up from the U17s to the U19s just before the suspension of games due to COVID-19, and Sebastian Hoeneß decided to bring him up to the Reserves since then. Musiala has featured in a few matches in recent weeks, and he fully rewarded Hoeneß’s faith with two goals today.
With the goals, Musiala became the second youngest goalscorer in the history of the 3.Liga at 17 years and 98 days. The record holder is a player that Bayern fans know well. David Alaba scored in the 3.Liga at the age of 17 years and 53 days.
Musiala came onto the field in the 57th minute for 18 year old Malik Tillman who received his first start for Bayern II after being called up from the club’s U19 side. With his two strikes coming in the 75th and 85th minutes, Musiala released pressure on a dominant Bayern side who were unable to find the back of the net for most of the day.

At the weekend, Bayern II will return to the field in a road match against Waldhof Mannheim. It’s a big match for the 3.Liga, as it pits the second and third place teams against each other with so many clubs bunched up together toward the top of the table.
