It’s been rumored for some time, but now it’s official — Bayern Munich have confirmed that Miroslav Klose will be promoted to assistant coach. Up until now, the German legend had been working with the club’s U-17 team. This appointment sees Klose move up the ladder in German football and also gives Bayern another significant voice on the bench.
Every fan will swoon at the idea of having Hansi Flick, Hermann Gerland, and Miroslav Klose on the sidelines next season. It’s basically a coaching dream-team at the moment. Flick’s been amazing since taking over for Kovac, and his credentials with the national team are robust. Gerland needs no explanation — his worth has been proven in consistent service to the club over the years. And now Klose, who is rated highly, joins the fray. What a time to be alive.
Meanwhile, assistant coach and analyst Danny Rohl also extended his contract for the entirety of Hansi Flick’s tenure. This is just the latest wave of contract extensions Bayern have been working on since the coronavirus pandemic shut everything down. With Flick, Thomas Muller, Alphonso Davies, and now Klose all announcing new deals, it sends a strong message in these times of uncertainty. Let’s hope the good news keeps coming in.
Here’s Bayern’s official announcement of the deal.
