Real Madrid eyeing Alphonso Davies to replace Marcelo (Don Balon)

Oh, our dear Don is back with another absurd rumor. This time, they claim that Florentino Perez is eyeing Bayern Munich left back Alphonso Davies to replace Marcelo. Given that the Brazilian has been slowing down as of late, the Don says that Madrid will need a replacement in the coming summer. Even though Ferland Mendy has been doing a great job for Zinedine Zidane’s side, they apparently still need another player to replace Marcelo’s contribution to the team.

Of course, this is a whole load of nonsense. Phonzie just extended his contract with Bayern, there’s no way the bosses let him go. But it’s a funny little rumor, isn’t it? Perfect for the Schmankerl.

Owen Hagreaves says Manchester United should try for Philippe Coutinho (Goal)

Former Bayern Munich and Man Utd star Owen Hagreaves had this to say about Philippe Coutinho:

Premier League teams are probably the only ones with the capacity to sign him and, let’s be honest, when he was here he was a dream to watch.

“If Liverpool are missing one thing it is probably a No10-ish player. I know they probably don’t need him because that front three are so good as is the balance in midfield.

“There are a lot of rumours about Chelsea, even Man United. There are a lot of teams where if I was sporting director, surely his name is on a lot of teams’ lists to come in and make a big impact. The question is, does he do it on loan again or is it a sale, because it doesn’t look like he’s going to stay at Barcelona.”

Hagreaves also explained the reason why Coutinho never managed to get a look in for Bayern. His words will probably resonate with a lot of people reading this blog:

In a perfect world, I think they hoped it would have worked out but it hasn’t. Probably just based on Thomas Muller. His form has just been so good.”

“Muller has just been one of the best players in the whole Bundesliga. He affects games and if you have got someone scoring two and setting two up every game.”

“In the past Bayern played three central midfielders and in a perfect world they would have played Coutinho but Thomas has got the most assists in the Bundesliga and at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League he was unbelievable.”

Borussia Dortmund will not extend Mario Gotze

Mats Hummels may miss Der Klassiker

If this turns out to be true, that would be a gigantic blow for Favre and his men — Hummels was the standout performer in the last Klassiker, and one of the few senior players in the squad that could be categorized as a “leader”. He will be sorely missed.
