Alphonso Davies may not be the sole Canadian in Bayern Munich’s 2020/2021 roster. K.A.A. Gent attacking midfielder, 20-year-old Jonathan David, has said that he is ready to take the step from the Belgian Jupiler Pro League to the Bundesliga.

David, who is also on RB Leipzig, Arsenal, and Manchester United radar, told Sky Sports that his interest amongst big European clubs is overwhelming but gives him the confidence that he can make the next step in his career.

“The league that would suit me the most right now is the Bundesliga. It’s similar to the Belgian league in terms of the tempo and the physicality, but obviously the quality is higher in Germany and there is more competition.”

David, who was born in Brooklyn, decided to try his luck directly in Europe before making an appearance in the MLS. In the 2019/20 season, he has scored 23 goals and assisted 8. A versatile offensive player, David’s primary position for Gent is attacking midfielder although he is just as comfortable playing further up the pitch.

The Belgian top league is known for producing high-quality talents. Kevin de Bruyne, Thorgan Hazard, Ivan Perisic, Axel Witsel, and Leon Bailey are just a few that have played in the league before joining a Bundesliga side.
