Bayern Munich are interested in Hertha Berlin’s young starlet Jessic Ngankam, according to a report from Sport1. The striker is out of contract this summer but has yet to sign a new one with the capital club, and Bayern are one of a handful of clubs after the talented youngster.
Ngankam made his Bundesliga debut on Saturday for Hertha, coming on late in the match for an eleven minute appearance. Hertha beat Hoffenheim 3-0 to move eight points clear of the relegation zone. These were his first minutes this season outside of the Regionalliga Nordost.

In addition to Bayern, Sport1 says that Borussia Mönchengladbach, Augsburg, Nürnberg, St. Pauli, and RB Leipzig have expressed interest in Ngankam. Hertha are desperate to re-sign him, hoping that this weekend’s minutes in the Bundesliga will convince Ngankam that his future in Hertha is bright.
If he was to make the move to Munich, this would certainly be a move to bolster the ranks of Bayern II in the 3.Liga. With Otschi Wriedt making the move to Willem II on the Dutch Eredivisie next season, Bayern II will be looking to replace the 3.Liga’s top goalscorer. While Ngankam hasn’t proven that he’s the guy who can take that mantle upon his shoulders, he’s got the talent to make it worth a shot — especially on a free transfer.
