Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confident Manuel Neuer will extend his contract at Bayern Munich

After Neuer’s negative tone towards Bayern in his recent interview, could Rummenigge’s confidence be seen as comforting?

Earlier this week, Manuel Neuer made a surprise interview with Bild, elaborating his ongoing disappointment with how his new contract talks are being handled. Bayern Munich and Germany’s number 1 have had a frosty relationship with the Bavarian club ever since Alexander Nübel was signed from Schalke 04.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, at Bild Live, has shared conciliatory words towards Manuel Neuer and Bayern Munich supporters. Confident that Die Roten would extend the contract with their starting goalkeeper since 2011, Rummenigge stated:

I think we know what we both have in one another, and I’m optimistic that in the end we will find a good solution for both sides and that Manuel will then sign a new contract.

Neuer’s interview was most likely surprising for the club leadership. It is not extraordinary that Rummenigge takes the high road when officially commenting on the ongoing contract drama. It could mean nothing although it is comforting that the chairman remains confident.
