Sven Ulreich not worried about the arrival of Nübel, says agent Julian Schwab

The current second-choice goalkeeper is confident of holding on to his spot even after the arrival of Alexander Nübel.

Per Kicker (via RP Online), Sven Ulreich’s agent Julian Schwab is certain that his client is not concerned about the arrival of Schalke’s Alexander Nübel next season. The 23-year-old is in the club’s long-term plans as the successor to Manuel Neuer and is set to be his understudy until Neuer’s time at Bayern Munich.

But Julian Schwab is confident that Bayern is a club that merits performance. He told Kicker:

FC Bayern is a performance society in which decisions are made for sporting terms. Let’s see who’s sitting on the bench behind Manuel Neuer in the end.

Nübel, whose transfer to Bayern was announced in January would have arrived at the Allianz Arena in June when his contract with Schalke expires. But, considering the current situation, concessions regarding extension of player contracts to offset the “corona offseason” shouldn’t be a surprise.

Regardless of the rumours of guaranteed playing time in Nübel’s contract negotiations, it would be shocking not to see Alexander Nübel as second-choice goalkeeper, getting the most minutes in goal behind Neuer and pushing Ulreich down to being the third-choice keeper. Whether that might affect Ulreich’s future at the club or not remains to be seen.
