Daily Schmankerl: Real Madrid targets Bayern’s “new Lewandowski,” Joshua Zirkzee; Frankfurt fans get creative with their banners; and MORE!

The most trusted publication in Spain claims Florentino Pérez has already destined Bayern’s striker jewel Zirkzee for Galactic white. All that remains is to inform Bayern Munich... and Zirkzee himself, of course.

Joshua Zirkzee already on Florentino Pérez’s shopping list (Don Balon)

“Florentino Pérez does not take his eyes off the new promises that come out all over the planet,” the most trusted sports magazine in Spain assures us with the inimitable eloquence of Google Translate.

Who is this astounding talent who has not withered under the powerful gaze of Florentino Pérez? Why, it is none other than Joshua Zirkzee! After Alphonso Davies — whom Pérez undoubtedly also already plans to sign this summer — Zirkzee has delivered spectacular performances for the first team of Bayern Munich, scoring thrice for Bayern in 100 minutes of playing time, twice as joker and once as starter.

Zirkzee moreover is under contract with Bayern until 2023 “and in Bayern he is regarded as the heir to Robert Lewandowski’s throne,” so naturally Real Madrid will steal him away this summer from Munich, in the Don’s distinguished opinion.

“Do not lose sight of him,” he concludes. We won’t, I assure you.

Erstwhile Bayern target Ozan Kabak probably out for the season (Sport1)

Ozan Kabak was heavily linked with Bayern this past summer before ultimately transferring from VfB Stuttgart to Schalke 04. Schalke revealed on Wednesday that Kabak will potentially miss the rest of the season after suffering “fractures to the transverse processes of the second, third, and fourth lumbar vertebrae.” Yikes!

Kabak will presumably need at least the rest of the season to recover. He joins Schalke captain Omar Mascarell, Benjamin Stambouli, Juan Miranda, Suat Serdar, and Daniel Caligiuri on the injured list.

Eric Dier confronts fan for insulting his brother (ESPN)

You might have heard online that Eric Dier stormed into the stands to confront someone shouting racist abuse at Gedson Fernandes. That rumor was untrue: Dier went after someone for talking trash about his brother

José Mourinho said after the match,

This person insulted Eric, this family was there. The young brother was not happy with the situation and then Eric, I repeat did what we professionals cannot do, but did something that probably we would do.

Here he is, up close and personal:
