Daily Schmankerl: Manuel Neuer’s agent at Säbener Strasse, Hulk marries his ex’s (ex-?)niece, Thiago and Guardiola join the coronavirus fight

Bayern Munich and Manuel Neuer’s team have yet to reach an agreement about an extension, specifically how long Neuer’s new contract should be.

Still no agreement between Bayern Munich and Manuel Neuer as agent visits Säbener Strasse (Bild+)

Manuel Neuer’s agent Thomas Kroth was spotted by Bild arriving at Bayern Munich’s headquarters on Säbener Strasse yesterday. He emerged 48 minutes later and spoke on the phone in his car for another 12 minutes before driving away.

According to Bild, during his brief visit, Kroth spoke with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn about extending Neuer’s contract, which currently expires in 2021.

The two parties have thus far failed to reach an agreement over the length of the contract. Neuer, now 33 years old, wants a longer contract than Bayern has thus far offered. The talks seem to have stalled since Bayern made an agreement with Schalke’s now former starting keeper, 23-year-old Alexander Nübel.

Since then, Neuer has demonstrated his class in an outstanding season, while Nübel’s lapses of concentration resulted in his demotion. Bayern coach Hansi Flick likewise emphasized his commitment to Neuer as starting keeper and praised Sven Ulreich, leaving it in doubt whether he would even want Nübel as second keeper, given the choice.

At any rate, both sides have yet to reach an agreement.

Alcantara Family Foundation joins the fight against the coronavirus

I don’t have any further details about this, but Thiago will appear on Catalan radio today to talk about fighting the coronavirus. He and his family foundation for children are evidently joining the fight.

Hulk keep it in family! (The SportsRush)

Brazilian international Hulk (his real name is Givanildo Vieira de Souza) is 33 now and playing out his twilight years in China for Shanghai SIPG. It’s incredible to think, but Shanghai paid €55.8m for him in 2016!

Anyway, Hulk recently divorced his wife of 12 years, Iran Angelo, this past July. A few months later, it came out that he had a new girlfriend... her niece, Camila Angelo. The two are only two years apart, as it happens, and you could say there’s a resemblance:

Yeah... Apparently, the two had to get married quick because Iran needed a visa to stay in China with Uncle Hulk. So now she’s her own cousins’ stepmother.

Did you know that the Roman emperor Claudius had a law passed that made it legal for uncles to marry their nieces? Now you do!

Pep Guardiola donates €1 million to fight coronavirus outbreak in Spain (BBC Sport)

Pep Guardiola is home in Barcelona, Spain, while the Premier League is on hiatus for the foreseeable future. Now he has donated €1 million toward a charitable cause to help fight the spread of the coronavirus in Spain, which has been hit extremely hard.

The BBC reports that the money will be donated to a campaign run by the Medical College of Barcelona and the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation to help buy medical equipment and protective gear for medical personnel treating coronavirus patients.

Rummenigge encourages Bayern staff in video address

TZ’s Manuel Bonke revealed yesterday that Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recorded a special video for all the Bayern staff to encourage and reassure them.

A nice gesture in difficult times. On Friday, chief executive #Rummenigge spoke to all #FCBayern employees in an approximately four-minute video on account of the #COVID19 crisis. It was his personal wish to encourage them and potentially allay their fears for the future.

Luka Jovic potentially facing Jail Time

In today’s edition of “Don’t break the quarantine”, Real Madrid & ex-Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Luka Jovic could be facing jail time for breaking his quarantine for seeing his girlfriend. Don’t be like Jovic, adhere to the COVID-19 quarantine.

Marcelo does soccer things!

I can’t be the only who thinks Marcelo’s probably the only guy on Real Madrid I actually like, right? Anyway: come for the first touch, stay for the finish...

Should have practiced better social distancing

Have a swell day, wherever you are self-isolating!
