Daily Schmankerl: Antonio Conte eyeing Coutinho for Inter Milan, Rivaldo sees him back at Barca

Philippe Coutinho’s time in Munich might already be at an end. Could Inter sign him to bolster their attack in conjunction with Christian Eriksen?

Conte considering Coutinho at Inter Milan (Tuttosport)

There is no way that Bayern Munich will spend €120m to purchase Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona outright at the end of this season, whenever that is. Only a very steep discount would make Coutinho appealing for Bayern at all. Hence odds are that Coutinho will return to become Barcelona’s problem once again.

That is where Inter Milan could come in: according to Tuttosport, Inter is casting eyes at Coutinho as coach Antonio Conte plans to compensate for the probably departure of Lautaro Martinez. Inter already will have Christian Eriksen next year. Tuttosport speculates that Conte could recreate the 3-4-1-2 formation he played at Chelsea by pairing Eriksen with Coutinho and Romelu Lukaku.

Rivaldo sees Coutinho moving back to Barcelona (BetFair)

As mentioned above, it’s practically guaranteed that Bayern will not buy Coutinho outright — unless the entire board is replaced by aliens. Brazilian legend Rivaldo sees things the same way and commented on Coutinho’s situation in his column for BetFair. He said,

It looks like Bayern Munich won’t pay Philippe Coutinho’s option clause at the end of the season and the player is likely to return to Barcelona.

I always thought Coutinho would adapt better to Spanish football than German, as there are some language and lifestyle issues that could be a little different for a Brazilian in Germany.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t gone well for the player in either league and he will be returning to Barcelona. It’s up to the club and manager to decide whether he is going to have another chance next season or not.

Rivaldo wonders whether “Coutinho’s experience in the Bundesliga has made him wake up” and “fight to stay at Barca.”
