It’s late at night for me, so let’s dive right in!
Poll Results:
Dayot Upamecano Joins Bayern Munich for €24.2 million
We did it people! Our first purchase as a club! You overwhelmingly chose Dayot Upamecano as our Centerback of choice out there, which makes sense.
He joins our club for a low price of over €24m Euro and signed a 4-year contract making €42k per week
Problem with your Right Back Decision
So, the problems I mentioned in my writeup about Achraf Hakimi came to fruition. The AI won’t allow for me to go ahead and sign anyone out on loan, as that would violate the contract that BVB and Real have with each other.
Therefore, seeing as the second most popular option was to stay firm on the right back front, I will be going with that option. It’s not to say that we can’t re-evaluate in the January window, but then again, we will allow Alvaro Odriozola to get some time with the squad.
Lewandowski Stays Here
I figured this would be the decision, and in fairness it makes sense. It would be foolish to send him off to PSG, who have just decided to bulk up their offense with Jadon Sancho and watch them walk their way to the Champions League Final. Though, for my money, he will probably be sold off later for a certain French forward.
Shocking Development of the Day

So, before you go off telling me that we need to sell Coco, let me remind you who don’t play the game of two quick things that may help us make the best decision:
- Real life form DOES NOT equate with in-game form. Things like injuries, player temperament, etc. don’t usually have as big an impact in these simulations.
- The game favors quick players who are great passers, both of which are attributes describing CoCo.
But, at the end of the day, it’s your decision.
Transfer Debate of the Day - Wingers
First off, I’ve seen the comments talking about Real Madrid’s Rodrygo being an attacking option. While I do admit he’s a good prospect, he’s currently 76 rated in the game and I don’t feel good paying his €49.5 million release clause.
So, here are my three candidates: Two linked with Bayern in real life, and one Off the Wall. Now, with pros and cons!
Leroy Sané - Manchester City
- 23 years old, 86 overall, Germany
- Current value: €59.5 m, NO release clause//earning €195k per weeK
- Pros: Young, German, Pacy. He’s exactly what would work great on the wings. While I did just mention that injury history isn’t consistent, there’s only one player that I’ve yet to sim through a full season with: Kingsley Coman. It seems that may be the one person FIFA is realistic with. Having played with Sane before, his ceiling is a 92-94 rating.
- Cons: 1) Look at that wage bill. He’d be making more money per week than Mbappe at PSG. 2) With a projected cost between €73-€102m he’d shatter our previous mark for highest ever transfer in Lucas Hernandez. 3) Unlike in real life, Man City aren’t in a real position to sell him, so he’d command the higher range of that transfer fee.
Timo Werner - RB Leipzig
- 23 years old, 86 overall, Germany
- Current value: €57.5 m, NO release clause//earning €92k per week
- Pros: Well, Chuck Smith would finally see his dreams come true. But outside that, while I’m unsure of Timo’s capabilities as a winger, he CAN play there if needed. He’s fast and versatile in the attacking third. He’s also incredibly capable of playing different positions. His ceiling is about 89-92.
- Cons: The expected range for him falls between €64.5 - €92m so he’s also like Sane in that he’d cost a lot. I wish FIFA had an ability to show the length of a contract a player has, but they don’t. So if he has signed a new contract, it’ll be tougher to draw him away. If he hasn’t, then we might have to risk not purchasing him in the future. But, for now, he seems like a decent enough fit, at least in terms of the contract. His in-game performances on the wing also have something left to be desired.
Off The Wall - Vinicius Junior - Real Madrid
- 19 years old, ? Overall, Brazil
- Current value: ?, €60.2m release clause // ? per week
So, allow me to explain this one a bit. We currently have scouts on VJ bringing in data on his value, overall rating, and current wage. At the time of this publishing, I couldn’t sim forward any further. If I did, I’d risk CoCo Tolisso going forth to Merseyside without your input.
Doing my own research, in another career mode, I found that the game would bring forth a value of €22.5 million, a wage of €60k per week and a value of 79 overall. Granted, these can all fluctuate and change in our simulation.
As opposed to Rodrygo, who largely hasn’t featured in this Real Madrid side in any sims I’ve seen, Vinicius is a very capable Left Winger and is more than capable of being a winger of the future for the club. However, the question of a fit within this club is important. He is still young, and has some time to develop. With a ceiling up there in the 90-94 range, he may be worth it. But, it’s up to you if you want a Real player coming to us.
Another Off the Wall: Buy More than One
We’ve taken a look at this Bayern team and they have sometimes lacked offensive capabilities. The other thing you need to consider is that this is an unrealistic simulation at the end of the day. If the FIFA people wanted this to be authentic in Career Mode, they wouldn’t make the transfer window an absolute Cold War-era Nuclear Arms Race like it is now. We might need to adapt in order to overcome. Make your decision known below, but know we have about €135 million to play with.
