Last month, Bayern Munich made an attempt to bring another young fullback to the club. According to De Telegraaf, the Bavarians made a push in the January transfer window to bring American Sergino Dest to the club from Ajax.
The report states that Bayern came in with a €20 million offer for the 19 year old; however, Ajax weren’t prepared to sell for that price at that time. The record Dutch champions value Dest at around €30 million, but De Telegraaf says that the two sides could very well find an agreement around €26 million this summer.
Dest spent last season with the Dutch club’s reserve side (Jong Ajax), but he’s burst into the first team this season, with 16 appearances (11 starts) in the Eredivisie and 8 appearances (5 starts) in the Champions League.
If Bayern were to make the move for Dest, it would make him the second high-profile young player from North America that the German champions have signed in consecutive years. Alphonso Davies joined Bayern in January 2019.
Update 2/8: TZ's Manuel Bonke reports that Dest was at the Pokal match against Hoffenheim this week, and Brazzo was at last Sunday's match between Ajax and PSV.
#FCBTransfersommer https://t.co/SuyJapdnwx
