Thiago asks Barcelona for forgiveness (Don Balon)

According to the venerable DON, Thiago Alcantara’s time at Bayern Munich nears an end. The Spaniard, who wants to return to La Liga, hopes that his former teammates will forgive him for forcing his way out all the way back in 2013.

On Bayern’s part, the club are allegedly willing to part with him for 50m euros, a generous offer that signifies the friendship between the two FCBs. That’s not actually in the Don’s article, but we feel like it’s implied by the text.

Messi’s contract clause puts Manchester City on alert (ManchesterEveningNews)

After the public feud between Lionel Messi and Barca sporting director Eric Abidal, new rumors have come to light about a supposed clause in the Argentine’s contract that would allow him to leave Barcelona for free in the summer. Apparently, Messi can leave for free to any club that agrees to pay his €50m a year salary.

Man City, who have former Barca men in Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain on their payroll, are looking to be the first in line for the player’s signature should he choose to leave the Catalan capital.

Of course, having heard the same “Messi wants to leave” story for several years now, no one’s really buying it this time.
