Thomas Müller wants to go to Real Madrid (Don Balon)
The DON is back! According to the most reliable source in world football, Thomas Müller is fed up with playing at Bayern Munich and wants to join his former teammate Toni Kroos at Real Madrid. This is apparently because Müller feels like time is running out in his career and he wants to try out other leagues. Der Raumdeuter apparently feels underappreciated because he plays for Bayern in the Bundesliga and is frustrated by the Bavarians’ inability to win the Champions League in recent years.
Of course, with Müller’s contract running down and with him being a free agent in 2021, the DON tells us that he will be available for a low price. Apparently, Kroos has already sounded him out on the “wonders of Madrid” and coach Zinedine Zidane is considering the move. Since he is 30-years-old, the DON tells us that Muller must make the move for the sake of his career. Who are we to disagree?
Bayern Munich eyeing Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso (Calciomercato)
It’s a stub of a story, but it’s still a story. Calciomercato remarks,
Signed with Chelsea until 2023, the 29-year-old Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso is liked by Inter, Bayern Munich, and Juventus.
Alonso has played for Chelsea since 2016, but he has fallen out of grace with Frank Lampard. After sharing duties at left-back intermittently with Emerson, now both left-backs have been benched in favor of captain César Azpilicueta, whom Lampard has moved from right-back to left-back ahead of both of them, while rising star Reece James (just 20) has taken over on the right.
Bayern presumably consider a player of Alonso’s age as a potential replacement for Juan Bernat and Rafinha at left-back, a reliable squad player who could step in for David Alaba if needed. Were Bayern to sign him, that would raise questions about the club’s intentions with Alphonso Davies, who has been brilliant at Alaba’s position.
Tuchel and Mbappé have reached the point of no-return (LeParisien)
According to Le Parisien, PSG have a huge problem on their hands. After a public spat between Thomas Tuchel and Kylian Mbappé in their 5-0 win over Montpellier on Saturday, the two men met with sporting director Leonardo at the Camp des Loges to sort out their differences. However, tension still remains.
The problems between the coach and PSG’s star player go back some time. Mbappé dislikes being subbed off, especially given that Neymar and Ángel Di Maria are subbed far less often. For Tuchel, it’s a matter of keeping his star player fit for the upcoming Champions League knockouts. With a game against former club Borussia Dortmund coming up, the German coach will be keen to prevent a repeat of last year’s humiliating exit to Manchester United.

An extra wrinkle in the affair is Mbappé’s contract situation. The Frenchman has so far refused to sign an extension on his existing contract, which runs until 2022. Since Real Madrid are known to be interested in signing the 21-year-old World Cup winner, and he himself recently said he would draw inspiration from Ronaldo, PSG find themselves in quite a pickle at the moment.
