The novel coronavirus is affecting sporting events around the world, including the Bundesliga, Germany is one of fifty-five nations worldwide with confirmed cases of the disease. The country has registered forty-eight cases so far, the latest one being reported in the Starnberg district west of Munich.
According to Bild, it is highly possible that Bayern Munich may cancel their summer tour of China on account of the uncertainty of the country’s situation in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. If the league champions call off the trip, they will likely be spend the summer in Europe itself, playing against top international clubs.
Since cases have been reported in and around Bavaria, the club is in close contact with the state’s medical department. As per the recommendation of Dr. Roland Schmidt, the internal medical director of Bayern, the players have been asked not to sign autographs and not to make themselves available for selfies and photographs for the time being.
The club released an official statement regarding the issue and asked for the fans’ understanding on the matter:
