Bayern Munich beat SC Sand 3-1 to move into second place in the Frauen Bundesliga. The Bavarians are now unbeaten nine straight league matches, with their last loss coming on October 12 against Hoffenheim.
Jovana Damnjanovic put Bayern up 1-0 in the 18th minute. The striker was first to a loose ball after a missed header from Kristin Demann and headed the ball into the back of the net. Then, just before halftime, Melanie Leupolz made it 2-0 with a tidy finish.

However, Bayern would not make it to the break with the 2-0 lead. On the restart, Sand charged straight down the field, and Simon Boye scored an own goal to make it 2-1 heading into the break.
Boye was determined to set things right, and she did that in the 79th minute. With her second goal in consecutive games, Boye made it 3-1 and sealed the victory for Bayern.
Bayern XI: Benkarth - Simon, Laudehr (31. Boye), Ilestedt, Gwinn - Leupolz, Demann, Magull - Dallmann, Damnjanović (87. Wenninger), Beerensteyn
The win coupled with Hoffenheim’s loss on the weekend means that Bayern jump back into sole possession of second place in the league with a three point gap between the two teams. Still, Wolfsburg sit at the top of the table, six points ahead of Bayern.
Bayern will be back on the field on March 1 for a match away to MSV Duisburg. With 29 points and 8 places separating the two sides, one would suspect that Bayern will be targeting all three points to keep Wolfsburg from building an even bigger lead at the top of the table.
