Report: Bayern Munich assumes David Alaba will leave this summer, while Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona beckon

Things are certainly not looking good for those hoping Bayern Munich will extend David Alaba’s contract.

Per a report from Sport Bild (print edition), Bayern Munich has stopped all efforts regarding negotiations with star defender David Alaba.

The 28-year-old Austria international has been embroiled in a back-and-forth with the club that has reportedly stemmed from his salary demands. While any report can be fairly scrutinized at this stage, this seems to back up previous reports that Alaba’s agent Pini Zahavi was already planning to start talking to new clubs in January.

In early November, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer went on German television and talked openly about the club pulling its offer from the negotiating table, which caused a stir among Alaba’s camp, Bayern Munich’s leadership group, the players, and fans alike. Clearly, there has been no progress made between Alaba and Bayern Munich if today’s news is to be believed.

Per Sport Bild’s report today, there are reportedly four clubs that Zahavi will be talking with: Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona. It was rumored last month that both Real Madrid and Barca thought Alaba’s salary demands were too steep. There has also been speculation that Alaba is not interested in a move to France and would primarily be focused on Spain or England.

Despite this particular report, both Hansi Flick and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated that the “door was open” for Alaba to still find a way to stick with the club.

As always, stay tuned.
