As part of his extensive interview with Sport Bild, Bayern Munich’s CEO-in-waiting Oliver Kahn is urging everyone to be patient with Leroy Sané.
Kahn reflected back on his own career and drew a comparison to when Franck Ribéry and Luca Toni arrived at Säbener Straße back in 2007.
“I can still remember when Franck Ribéry and Luca Toni moved to Bayern in 2007,” Kahn said. “At the time I said: ‘We’re not here with Florence or Marseille, but with FC Bayern!’ It is a huge stage. The fact that a player needs time to understand FC Bayern remains unchanged for me.”
Kahn is not worried in the least about Sané and expects him to eventually take a starring role.
“I’ve known FC Bayern for a long time and I know that new players need time to fully arrive — especially since Leroy came to us from a serious injury,” Kahn said. “His qualities are outstanding, so we expect a lot from him. He scored goals that you don’t see in other players.”
Kahn’s remarks come just days after numerous members of the club publicly backed Sané. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Hasan Salihamidžić, Thomas Müller, and Robert Lewandowski all went to bat for the former Manchester City star.
