Bayern Munich II end 2020 with draw against Unterhaching

Despite Fiete Arp’s big free kick goal, Bayern II settle for a 1-1 draw against fellow relegation candidates Unterhaching.

Bayern Munich II secured a point away to Unterhaching in their final match of 2020. The 1-1 draw ends a start-stop, mediocre start to the 2020/21 season. In a season full of change in the team and unlike any other due to COVID, Bayern II have their head above water and will be targeting a mid-table finish in the second half of the season.

Fiete Arp scored a spectacular free kick just before halftime to equalize at 1-1 for Bayern II. Unterhaching had taken the lead on a 2nd minute goal from Luca Marseiler; however, Bayern II battled back and took a deserved point in the contest.

“I am totally satisfied with the performance of my team, it was outstanding. In the second half in particular, we kept playing forward,” coach Holger Seitz said. “The only thing that doesn’t quite fit in the end is the result.”

Bayern XI: Hoffmann - Stanisic, Lawrence, Feldhahn, Arrey-Mbi, Vita - Stiller, Zaiser (74. Rochelt), Kern - Dajaku, Arp (87. Kühn)

The match was the final of 2020 for Bayern II. After 15 league matches, the little Bavarians have totaled 17 points. It’s good for 16th place, one point out of the current relegation zone of the bottom four teams.

The next time that Bayern II will take the field in an official game is January 9, 2021 when the Bavarian Derby against 1860 Munich will take place.

During the winter break, we’ll take a look at the squad of Bayern II and see how they’re doing in the 2020/21 season.
