Bayern Munich Frauen manager Jens Scheuer has been perfect through 14 games this season, which has convinced the club that he is the right person to lead the squad for the immediate future.

Scheuer and Bayern Munich have agreed on a contract extension that will see the 42-year-old continue in the position through the 2022/2023 season.

“I am very happy and proud that such a big club as FC Bayern is in favor of further cooperation with me and I am happy to be able to continue to train my team. One-and-a-half years ago we worked out a clear plan of the goals we would like to achieve. We’re on the right track here,” said Scheuer about his extension to FCBayern.com. “We want to build something together here so that FC Bayern can also get to where it has long been with men, (but in) in women’s football: at the top. We have already taken the first steps, but of course, we have not yet achieved our goal. We are constantly analyzing what fits and where we can improve. We never want to be satisfied, because that would be the first step to stand still.”

Scheuer’s team downed Ajax yesterday 3-0 to advance into the UEFA Women’s Champions League round of 16. Clearly, his overall performance merited a longer deal.

“We have big goals together: We want our team to be at the top in German and international women’s football,” said Karin Danner, head of department at FC Bayern Frauen. “The past year-and-a-half have confirmed that in Jens Scheuer we have the right trainer for this ambitious path. We are very happy that we will continue our cooperation and I am sure that we will have a lot of fun with our team and our coaching team in the years to come.”

FC Bayern Frauen sporting director Bianca Rech also has been impressed with Scheuer’s performance.

“With all the challenges on the way to our new beginning, he continued to develop the team with clear ideas and a common philosophy,” Rech stated. “We are very pleased that Jens has decided to continue on the path we have chosen.”

The FC Bayern Frauen will face SC Sand on Sunday, which will be the team’s last match before the winter break.
