Tiago Dantas was acquired from Benfica just after the summer transfer window closed, which meant the 19-year-old was limited to playing with Bayern Munich’s second team in the first half of the season.
Officially, Dantas joined Bayern Munich on a one-year loan deal, but the Bavarian club can make the deal permanent for €8 million euros.
Because of the last-minute drama, it was not clear when would Dantas join the first team and when we could see him debuting for Bayern Munich. In today’s press conference, Hansi Flick explained Tiago’s situation:

He’ll be with us from January when he’s eligible to play. And he’ll be an option as well. He’s making good progress, but he’s injured at the moment. If he can prove himself with the first team it will be another huge step for him.
Tiago has so far played sporadically with Bayern’s second team due to injuries but has impressed everyone with his technical gifts. Hopefully, Dantas recovers soon and continues his development under Flick.
