Alleged Bayern Munich target Dominik Szoboszlai will be headed to the Bundesliga, but it won’t be with the Bavarians. It appears that RB Leipzig has won the race for the talented midfielder/winger over Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Arsenal.
Per Sky Sports:
Arsenal target Dominik Szoboszlai has decided to join RB Leipzig in the January transfer window, according to Sky Germany. Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Szoboszlai is close to finalizing a move away to the Austrian club’s sister side. Sky Sports News reported on Thursday that Arsenal had been interested in signing the Hungary international in January. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid had also been interested in the 20-year-old over a potential deal next summer.
Szoboszlai is extremely talented and with a high ceiling for growth. With deft offensive skills, Szoboszlai should make an immediate impact with RB Leipzig, which has had some struggles offensively this season.
As we covered earlier this week, the “transfer saga” was nearing an end; it just looks like it is happening even sooner than we thought. As essentially the “parent club” to Red Bull Salzburg, RB Leipzig was always considered one of the heavy favorites to land Szoboszlai, but now that train of thought appears to be inching closer to reality.
On the bright side for Bayern Munich fans who wanted Szoboszlai, the youngster will be under the guidance of a terrific manager (Julian Nagelsmann) in the same league as the Bavarians. If the club really wants to make a move for him at some point, Bayern Munich will apparently have a front row seat to assessing his game from this point forward.
