Bayern Munich moved one step closer to a berth in the next round of the Women’s Champions League with a 3-1 win away to Ajax in the Round of 32. With the return leg next week at the Bayern Campus, a solid performance from the Bavarians should be enough to ease them into the Round of 16.
It was a disappointing first half for Bayern, as they controlled the match but were unable to generate many great goal-scoring chances. It wasn’t until the 57th minute when the Bavarians found their opener. Lea Schüller saw her shot deflected by Ajax defender Kay-Lee de Sanders into the back of the net to give Bayern their first lead.

The final twenty minutes of the match saw Bayern sandwich a Jonna van de Velde goal with goals by Sydney Lohmann and Simone Laudehr.
“A win and three goals in an away game in the Champions League are of course super positive,” head coach Jens Scheuer said.
Before facing Ajax next Wednesday, Bayern will visit Eintracht Frankfurt in a Frauen Bundesliga matchup on Sunday. Bayern have built an impressive five point lead over Wolfsburg in the table, and they’ll look to continue their perfect run to start the season.
Bayern XI: Benkarth - Ilestedt (46. Simon), Hegering, Wenninger, Glas - Magull, Zadrazil (68. Dallmann) - Bühl (75. Laudehr), Lohmann, Beerensteyn - Schüller (80. Pollak)
