Bayern Munich’s Hansi Flick and Leon Goretzka have deep respect for RB Salzburg

If Hansi Flick and Leon Goretzka are to be believed, Bayern Munich won’t be looking past RB Salzburg in tomorrow’s Champions League match.

Bayern Munich and RB Salzburg hooked up for a wildly entertaining Champions League match just a few weeks ago and now the two potent squads are ready to do battle once again.

If the Bavarians were caught off-guard in the last match, it likely won’t happen once again. Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has a firm understanding of just how tough RB Salzburg is as an opponent.

“They’re a really tricky opposition and they know how to put teams under pressure,” said Flick (as captured by the @FCBayernEN Twitter account). “They attack well when they win the ball back. They are capable of competing in the Champions League. Our aim is to reach the last 16, but it will be a tough task. Salzburg are good at putting their opponents under pressure and they are strong on the ball as well.”

Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka echoed his coach’s sentiment.

“We saw in the last game how much quality Salzburg have in their team,” Goretzka said. “The big-name departures speak for themselves. That team is full of talented players and it won’t be an easy task for us tomorrow.”

Goretzka reflected on what he and his teammates learned from the first fixture.

“The away game in Salzburg was tough — you could see how good they are,” said Goretzka. “The good thing about return fixtures is that you’ve been able to analyze things. We’ve done just that. We want more control over tomorrow’s game. We want to win tomorrow. We’re on a really good run in the Champions League, dating back to last season and we want to build on that.”
