Another injury: Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski picked up a knock with Poland

Injuries on international break? A Bayern Munich tradition unlike any other.

According to Polish outlet WP SportoweFakty, Bayern Munich star striker Robert Lewandowski picked up a knock against Italy on Sunday. Lewandowski’s injury was described as “muscle problems” and his status for Poland’s UEFA Nations League match against the Netherlands on Wednesday was referenced as “highly questionable.”

Despite being banged up during the game, Lewandowski did not exit and stayed on until the final whistle. The Polish Hitman, though, likely will not get any pressure from his teammates or coaches to pull a Willis Reed on Wednesday against the Dutch.

The outcome of the Poland-Netherlands game will likely not have an effect on the UEFA Nations League standings for the Poles. While Poland could be crowned champions of Division A with a victory over the Netherlands AND a Bosnia and Herzegovina win over Italy, WP SportoweFakty described that scenario as “unrealistic” — especially if Lewandowski does not dress.

Either Arkadiusz Milik or Krzysztof Piątek is expected to slide into Lewandowski’s position in Poland’s lineup.

As for Bayern Munich, fans will surely be crossing their fingers that Lewandowski will be available to face Werder Bremen this weekend.
