Bayern Munich prospect Joshua Zirkzee missed out on an opportunity to leave on a loan assignment over the summer, but a report from Bild indicated that the Bavarians are still open to such an arrangement.
FC Köln was one of the clubs very interested in Zirkzee at the time and the Billy Goats remain keen to bring in the 19-year-old Netherlands youth international. The Bild report states that a deal with FC Köln could potentially solve the respective problems for all parties:
- For Zirkzee, the player would be able to get regular, first-team minutes in the Bundesliga.
- For Bayern Munich, the club would get a chance to further evaluate Zirkzee’s progress against top-flight competition.
- For FC Köln, the club would get an offensive threat. With just seven goals in seven Bundesliga games, Die Geißböcke could absolutely a scoring talent to help increase the squad’s goal output.
Per Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg, no talks have taken place between Bayern Munich and FC Köln...as of yet:
Update #Zirkzee: @fckoeln was highly interested but #FCBayern said no. Shortly after that decision they finalized Choupo-Moting and there was insufficient time for a loan deal. No concrete talks between both clubs right now. But Cologne is still targeting the player. @SPORT1

Stay tuned on this one. Zirkzee is a deep reserve at this point with Bayern Munich and a loan assignment might just be what the player needs at this point in his career.
