If anyone was worried that ultra-intense Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich might have some trouble coping with his meniscus-injury induced downtime, you can rest a little easier.

Kimmich hit Instagram with a post-surgery picture and message to his fans and teammates. The 25-year-old even poked a little fun at himself while doing it:

Among the messages that Kimmich attached in hashtag form:

  • You lay on your lazy butt two days and immediately have the calves of a greyhound
  • Always forward and never backwards
  • Believe in yourself

It was good to see Kimmich joking about his calf muscles (even if he is exaggerating quite a bit) and able to have a little fun after such an ordeal.

If anything, the “mentality monster” is in terrific spirits after surgery. Hopefully the keystone of Bayern Munich’s midfield can maintain this positivity during his rehab and work his way back to the training ground as soon as possible.

With a long and arduous time away from the squad ahead of him, you can be certain that Kimmich will have a laser focus on not just getting back to 100%, but being even better than he was before.

Both Kimmich and Bayern Munich are hoping for a January return.
