Per a report from Portuguese outlet Record, Bayern Munich’s deal with Benfica for Tiago Dantas has a couple of interesting caveats.

First, Bayern Munich will reportedly have an option to buy Dantas for €7.5 million when the loan assignment ends after this season. For Benfica, that might seem like a bit of a shortfall if you believe the reports on Dantas’ vast potential. The Portuguese club, however, does reportedly have another clause built into the deal, which should eventually help recoup more funds.

Should Bayern Munich purchase Dantas and eventually sell the midfielder, Benfica would allegedly be in line to collect a 25% sell-on fee. While that may still not seem like a financial windfall, it at least adds some context as to why the club would potentially sell a player, who is considered one of its brightest and most valuable prospects.

Surely, Dantas’ progress for Bayern Munich II will be one of the more interesting subplots for the season.
