Bayern Munich won their fourth straight match to kick off the Frauen Bundesliga season with a 2-0 victory away to SGS Essen.
The Bavarians finally opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Hanna Glas smashed in a shot from distance. Carolin Simon whipped in a cross into the box was mishit in a failed clearance form Essen, and Glas got the rebound and fired it into the far corner.
The second half was controlled by Bayern, and they came close to finding a second goal, striking the crossbar on two separate occasions. Their second goal would come in stoppage time after Essen was called for handball in the penalty area. Sydney Lohmann stepped up and scored the spot kick to send Bayern through to the 2-0 victory.

After four league games, Bayern sit in first place in the Frauen Bundesliga table, level on points with Wolfsburg. The Bavarians, however, hold the edge over Wolfsburg on goal difference +13 to +12.
It’s a two-match week for Bayern, with league matches on Wednesday and Sunday. First up, Bayern will host Duisburg at the Bayern Campus before heading off at the weekend to face Hoffenheim.
