What a win and what a thrilling game! Bayern Munich managed to win over an impressive Hertha Berlin side who made life difficult for the home team. In the last minutes, a penalty was rewarded for Bayern and, Lewandowski converted it, scoring his fourth goal of the day. Without further ado, here are the match awards!

Jersey Swap: Matheus Cunha

A very good performance from the Brazilian midfielder. He was often pressuring the opposition and making runs towards Manuel Neuer’s goal. He managed to score after some dubious defending by everyone on Bayern’s backline. He also had an assist to his name on Jhon Cordoba’s goal that opened Hertha’s scoresheet. In the end, his performance wasn’t enough for Hertha and Bayern won in a nail-biting finish.

Der Bomber: Thomas Muller

Impressive performance by the Raumdeuter! The German veteran made his presence known all over the pitch. He occupied almost the whole defensive area of Hertha Berlin and pressured the backline. His added to his assist total today, as he helped Robert Lewandowski score his third goal of the day. His vision and passing were on another level with seven (!) key passes and four created chances to his name.

Fußballgott: Leon Goretzka

It was a difficult match for Bayern’s midfield players. Hertha pressed them hard and there was little space for them to move the ball around. Leon Goretzka didn’t have the greatest match, but his presence was felt. He used his bulky physicality to win duels, and it worked great for him. As part of the double pivot, Goretzka was trusted with an important defensive role and he did his job fairly well. He also proved that he is one of Bayern’s best players in the attacking buildup as his 87.4% pass accuracy rate was coupled with nine out of ten accurate long passes and one key pass.

Der Kaiser: Chris Richards

What an impressive first start for the USMNT youngster. He was composed, focused, rock-solid in defense, and dangerous on the attack — a perfect combination for a full-back. In two instances, he looked a bit shaky, but as the game progressed, he looked better and better. What surprised me the most were his crosses - he nailed every single one of them. He made one assist today but could have gotten two after his assist to Müller was denied by VAR. It’s a shame that his time on the field was cut short by an injury after what looked like a cramped leg. All in all, an impressive match from Richards.

Meister of the match: Robert Lewandowski

What is there to say about the fantastic Polish striker? Simply an amazing performance tonight. He single-handedly led Bayern to their second win in this Bundesliga season. He probably could have gotten a few more goals today, but Hertha’s goalkeeper was on top of his craft today (despite conceding four goals). Lewandowski finished the game with thirteen shots in total with seven of them on target. Bundesliga — brace thyself — the Polish striker is at his best!
