You can really tell it’s silly season, can’t you? Bayern Munich desperately need a new winger, and one of the names that’s come up is Juventus winger Douglas Costa. Remember him? The Brazilian played for the Bavarians from 2015 to 2017, leaving after disagreements over playing time and wages.
The report comes from kicker, who claims that Bayern want to loan Costa until the end of the season. Costa is a quick, creative winger who is familiar with the team’s style, and the Bayern bosses have good relations with Juventus. A loan deal makes sense in these conditions, especially since the Bianconeri have little use for the player at the moment.
Will Bayern succeed in getting a fourth winger? Is Costa the one? As a fourth choice option, he certainly has the quality, but his injury record has been nothing short of horrendous since leaving Germany. Is there any point in getting a backup who never plays? Who knows, but he’s better than nothing.
The last day of the transfer window is tomorrow. Let’s hope Bayern get a deal through.
UPDATE:
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Costa will be leaving Turin, Italy on Monday morning to head to Munich for his medical to complete in loan move back to Bayern. Developments regarding Costa have been moving quickly as the transfer deadline fast approaches.
Douglas Costa will leave Turin tomorrow morning to have his medicals as new Bayern Munich player. Simple loan, no buy option, no loan fee to Juventus. Bayern will only pay his full wages. Here-we-go confirmed!
