With his strike in the first half of Bayern Munich’s match against Hertha Berlin, Robert Lewandowski has now scored a total of 100 goals in the Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga. It’s taken him just 98 home matches to reach this feat. His goal came just minute after a header from Thomas Muller was ruled marginally offside after American youngster Chris Richards had sent him in a perfect cross.
After Berlin fluffed their lines and botched a clearance out of their own six-yard box, the loose ball fell right to Lewandowski and he made absolutely no mistake, burying it into the bottom right corner of Alexander Schwolow’s net. It was a justifiable reward for not giving up on the play after it was his header that Berlin had failed to properly clear out.
The strike was Lewandowski’s second in the Bundesliga this season and there’s surely more where that came from.
