Bayern Munich want to swap Michael Cuisance for Marseille right-back Bouna Sarr

Marseille have been after Cuisance for ages — is this how Bayern will get a backup right-back?

Last minute transfer news is in full swing at the moment. According to Max Bielefeld of Sky Sports, Bayern Munich are interested in Marseille right-back Bouna Sarr. Michael Cuisance could go the other way as part of a swap deal, as the French club have been interested in the youngster for some time.

At 28 years of age, Sarr is four years older than Benjamin Pavard, and therefore not a young, promising talent like Tariq Lamptey or Sergino Dest. It’s clear that circumstances have forces the Bayern bosses to look at different ways to strengthen the squad, after plan A through C seems to have failed. Sarr would come as an experienced backup, allowing Pavard to be rested as much as needed. Meanwhile, Cuisance would be served well by going the other way, as the arrival of Marc Roca means his minutes will be even more limited in the coming season.

For now, negotiations between Marseille and Bayern are ongoing. Michael Cuisance won’t be available for the team’s clash against Hertha Berlin anyway, since he missed his last covid test due to the failed move to Leeds United. With the transfer deadline day fast approaching, the bosses will have to work fast if they want to get this and other deals over the line.

If it does go through, let’s hope Cuisance passes the medical this time. Bayern need a right-back — is Sarr the one?
