There may be no player better acquainted with Robert Lewandowski’s career at Bayern Munich than Thomas Müller. For Müller, watching how Lewandowski’s game changed over time has been fascinating.
Lewandowski has evolved from a pure goal scorer to an elite overall player and Müller could not be happier to see it.

“He wanted to score a lot of goals for a long time and now he wants to score goals to win games with the team,” said Müller per kicker. “You can’t praise it highly enough and should be happy that he has taken this step that he can now look forward to an assist!”
Lewandowski’s performance over the past two seasons is nothing short of remarkable. In the 2019/2020 campaign the Polish Hitman registered 54 goals and 10 assists in 37 games across all competitions. So far in 2020/2021, the 32-year-old striker has 10 goals and four assists in eight games across all competitions.
Specifically, Müller acknowledged Lewandowski’s form over the last year and how it has impacted the team’s success.
“(Lewandowski) is very involved in our game, maybe even better than before,” said Müller. “Of course, he has always contributed his goals and his quality, but what has been going on for a year now is even more special. (Lewandowski) gets a lot of chances to score in this system, but other players, including me, need a whole career to perhaps manage one or two hat-tricks. He does that in passing. And that is why he is already very special.”
Will Bayern Munich’s dynamic duo get a chance to link-up for more goals today? We won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
