Philippe Coutinho set to bring his Bayern Munich form to El Clasico

As FC Barcelona and Real Madrid prepare to do battle in El Clásico, Philippe Coutinho’s new found muscle mass should be a help.

With El Clásico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona set to kickoff shortly, one player who will undoubtedly be ready for the match is Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho, who had an up-then-down-then-up-again loan with Bayern Munich last season, has embraced the Bavarian fitness regiment and taken it back to Barca with him. In all, the 28-year-old has put on five kilograms(11 pounds) of weight, including four kilograms (9 pounds) of muscle mass per Brazil fitness coach Fábio Mahseredjian.

In addition, Brazil manager Tite noted that Coutinho has a newfound “dedication” to the fitness aspect of football per Marca. Four kilograms of muscle mass is impressive...to some, but maybe not to everyone (*cough* Leon Goretzka *cough*):

Either way, good luck to Coutinho today as he will surely need that muscle to power through what should be a rugged El Clásico. FC Barcelona’s tumultuous offseason and Real Madrid overall inconsistency will make this a wide-open contest for La Liga fans.
