Hansi Flick has been a revelation at Bayern Munich. The German has gone from a relatively unknown coach who never managed at the top level, to one of the most acclaimed managers in world football in the space of a year.

In fact, per Bild (paywall), even the world’s best world’s second-best goalkeeper, Jan Oblak, had no idea who Hansi Flick was until the start of 2020. This admission just goes to show how meteoric Flick’s recent rise into prominence has been. Bayern play the Slovenian’s Atletico Madrid later today and, of course, Oblak now knows of Flick’s considerable qualities — even going on to laud Flick for the work he’s done and many trophies he’s won.

In what should be a fascinating affair, Oblak will play a key role in Atleti’s chances of a win. This is a match where he will come up against the other outstanding keeper in world football, Manuel Neuer. What is for sure is that this Champions League match could easily be one decided by the tightest margins. Heroics from Manuel Neuer or Oblak could be the deciding factor to which team will be happy at the end of the night.
