It’s been quite a while since we’ve been able to post a “Bavarian Fight Club” piece. Of course, this time around, there’s not as much to the incident as there has been in the past — fortunately so.

Bayern Munich has been in Qatar for a little over 48 hours now and they’ve already completed a few training sessions since arriving. Per a report by Bild, during today’s first session, Thomas Müller gave Jerome Boateng a good whack to the face, which resulted in the towering center-back losing the contact lens from his left eye. He then told Muller to be more careful so as not to put anyone at risk of being injured.

Luckily for Boateng, Hansi Flick was able to locate Boateng’s contact lens a few minutes after the incident, though the center-back was forced to go through training with limited vision in his left eye for about 15-20 minutes. He was able to put the lens back in during a brief break in training and carry on with the session.

While the incident might’ve looked somewhat confrontational between Müller and Boateng when it actually occurred, Müller sarcastically shrugged off the encounter as nothing serious at all when Bild asked him about it. He simply smiled and said, “I wanted to test his contact lens. It didn’t fit me...” We’re not sure if Boateng thanked Muller for giving his contact lens a proper test, but he surely has his sights set on not having it fall out again — see what I did there?!

Apart from the main group, it’s also worth noting that Serge Gnabry completed an individual session as he recovers from an achilles tendon problem while Lucas Hernandez also did a session on his own after warming up with the team due to his recovery from his ankle problem.
