Bayern Munich II put together a strong performance on Sunday on the way to a 3-0 victory over KFC Uerdingen. It’s a great start to kick of 2020, and it’s Bayern’s second win this season against 10th place Uerdingen.

Assani Lukimya conceded an own goal to give Bayern II the lead in the 25th minute, diverting a cross from Derrick Köhn into the Uerdingen net. Then, a few minutes before halftime, Oliver Batista-Meier put Bayern up 2-0 after he finished a brilliant pass from Joshua Zirkzee.

After Uerdingen’s Jean-Manuel Mbom was sent off for his second yellow card in the 52nd minute, Bayern II wasted no time putting the match away. In the 56th minute, Zirkzee headed a cross from Mert Yilmaz into the goal to make it 3-0 in favor of the young Bavarians.

Full Highlights are here.

Bayern’s newest loanee Nicolas Kühn made his debut in the match, coming in the match for Zirkzee in the 74th minute. Kühn, a high-profile Germany youth international, is in Munich from Ajax for the remainder of the season.

Sebastian Hoeneß started a lineup with an average age of 20.8 which is the youngest in German professional football this season. Four of the players — Zirkzee, Batista-Meier, Leon Dajaku and Angelo Stiller — could still play for the U19s.

Bayern XI: Früchtl - Yilmaz, Richards (68. Feldhahn), Mai, Köhn - Welzmüller, Stiller, Kern (82. Arp) - Batista-Meier, Zirkzee (74. Kühn), Dajaku

The Bavarians were also without Otschi Wriedt (yellow card suspension) and Sarpreet Singh (red card suspension). Nico Feldhahn, who came on late in the match as a substitute, didn’t start in this one since he was ill for most of the week.

Their next match is Saturday, February 1 at the Grünwalder Stadion when Hansa Rostock comes to Munich. It’s a big opportunity for Bayern II to leapfrog up into the middle of the table and stay on target to survive in the 3.Liga.
